Indigenous History Presented by Josh Morin

September 30, 2019 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Taanishi my name is Josh Morin. I am Métis/Michif whose family historically comes from historic Metis communities such as St. Albert, Lac St Anne, Hay River NWT and Meadow Lake SK.

I was raised in what you would consider a traditional Métis household being aware of our identity and culture at a very young age.

I currently dedicate my time at Michif Cultural Connections Company, an Indigenous Non Profit organization located in the historic Metis community of St. Albert. It was founded by my Grandma Thelma Chalifoux who was Canada’s first Indigenous woman and Métis person appointed to the Canadian Senate.

Our mission is simple. Through leadership and education, the Michif Cultural Connections Company will provide programs; facilitate workshops and exhibit museum artifacts, establish a library and house archival documents to preserve, promote and protect Alberta Metis history. Maarsii.
